Random Moving in Pictures

I moved in one truck load a day over the course of a week. I stopped by storage on my way home from work, loaded the truck with all I could fit and came home. Home, such a nice word, and it actually feels like home as I write this. Nice.

For the most part I did it myself, but my neighbor, Bill who lives in the back house helped me a couple of days and I was grateful to have the extra hands. It was like Christmas everyday as I unpacked what I brought in and discovered my treasured belongings all over again after months of separation. I could feel my energy fill the space more and more everyday and a sense of peace enveloped my body. I know I am in the right place for now.

This is on day three. It is starting to come together, one box at a time.

Another one of the features I love about this old house is the latches on the kitchen cabinets. They have a little push button on the handle to open the door. So cool! You could not find a latch like this these days if you tried. I am so lucky to live here.

In the back bedroom closet there is an old school pencil sharpener. I laughed out loud when I saw it, then ran to get some pencils to sharpen! Don't ask me why I was so excited about it.

As I started to unpack, I began to find pillows in boxes securing things or filling space in the top of a box. And if I might just side track for a moment... I packed so well, I impressed myself. I mean those boxes were perfect and organized. The fragile stuff was beyond secure. The boxes, with the exception of a few were a manageable weight. Damn, I'm so good! Anyway, back to the pillows...I was so happy to see them. I am not sure what my obsession with pillows is all about, but every time I found one I was just thrilled. Simple pleasures.

I think the plants will be very happy here in this window with the morning sun shining in every day. I am sure things will shift around over time, but for now life is good for the plants.

I made use of the little cubby in the dining room right away for my gratitude alter. The stone statue of the mother and child was given to me by Amber when she visited once in Santa Monica. Of course, I had to add candles as soon as I found them.

Light. Courage. Tenderness. My first Heartstones messages when I moved in.

This is the view out the front window to the East.

This is the view out of the front window to the west, towards Tahoe and California.

This house came equipped with so much stuff. In the laundry room there is a little tool closet.

Beyond the laundry room is this huge closet housing the water heater and the heating system, but also a broom, dustpan and mop. On the wall is a can opener from way back in the day, but it works, so cool, unh?

There is a great closet in the hall where the vacuum lives, score!

And on the other side is built in shelves and a cool set of drawers.
