I took a bunch of pictures yesterday of Dotty's, but none of them really came out very good. I am going to try again tonight so you can see the goofy little place that I work. This is the view standing in the kitchen door looking out onto the floor of the store, (they are called stores, not casinos). I put up the 4th of July decorations on Thursday, (which is really Friday very early in the morning), and I will take them down tonight. Dotty's decorates for every occasion and graveyard usually does the honors.
This is, by far, the goofiest job I have ever done, but it is easy, I am having fun and the people are nice. Sometimes it is a little sad watching people go back to the ATM time and time again with a super stressed look on their face, and it makes me think of Monica every time, so I say a little prayer for those people. Right next to the ATM machine is a box of brochures titled, "When the Fun Stops", I am the only one I have ever seen take one out and read it, go figure. However, most of the regulars are there because this is their form of recreation and just come in for the pleasant company (they all know each other) free drinks(well, sort of free, believe me, they pay) and personal service. Most seem to play with discipline and tell me it is a fun place to game because it is such a cafe-like social setting, not noisy and flashy like the big casinos, you don't have to walk a mile from the parking lot and for most of them it is very close to home. Plus, Dotty's card holders earn points and get cash back every month to play with, apparently, most casino players cards don't give cash back. I wouldn't know. They earn double points for playing on my shift, thank goodness, it keeps them coming in during the vampire hours.
More later, I have to go to bed.
