Earth

For a long time, I have wanted a yard, a real garden, earth to dig in and grow things. Well, now I have it. Proof enough that dreams do come true, as simple as they may be. The house is in enough order that I moved into the yard this week and planted some flowers. My budget is very limited, so I scoured the stores in search of the cheapest flowers I could find on sale and a bag of dirt.

On one side of the porch there are daisies growing, which pleases me to no end, and at some point I will remove all the white rock and give the daisy's some company. That will depend on the money, of course, but in the meantime, I worked on the other side - smaller and more manageable price wise.

It took me a couple of hours on Monday to dig out all the rock, and then it was too hot to stay outside much longer anyway. I went inside and ate then went to bed. On Tuesday morning I picked up my flowers and dirt on the way home from work.

I had to have these flowers, called Angelonia for several reasons. First, they are purple, my favorite color. Second, I think they will grow tall, which I wanted for each end of the planter bed. And lastly, they are called Angelonia, which has Angel in the name and reminds me of Los Angeles, a place I love and always will no matter where I live.

I filled in with petunias because I liked the color of pink, they thrive in full sun and they were really cheap!

In the center I chose a vinca mix because I wanted some white, although I think this plant will produce some pink ones too and again, on sale and in my budget, lucky for me.

This is the finished project, and yes, you can expect progress reports on the growth.

Yippe, I have a real garden. Life is good.
